The Senior SRE owns reliability for the most critical services. They define and negotiate SLOs, manage error budgets, lead complex incident response and drive the toil-reduction and capacity work that keeps services healthy. They mentor SREs and influence architecture for reliability. The role leads to SRE Lead, Platform Engineer or Cloud Architect.
Main responsibilities
- Define SLI/SLO and manage the error budget
- Implement metrics, logs and tracing end to end
- Reduce toil through automation and better tooling
- Lead incident resolution and post-mortem analysis
- Operate Kubernetes clusters and their add-ons
- Describe infrastructure as code and version it
- Follow capacity, performance and resource usage
- Automate recurring tasks with scripts
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Mentor junior team members and review their work
- Write and improve operational runbooks
- Take part in on-call rotations
