Career overview
The Application Support Engineer lives between the users, the software vendor and the infrastructure. They know the functional flows of the application, its interfaces, its batch chains and its failure patterns. When an order does not reach the ERP or an interface stalls at 2 a.m., they are the ones who investigate. It is a very strong stepping stone toward production engineering and DevOps because you learn how software actually behaves in production.
